Happy Belated 7 Months
Dear Lexi,
Happy belated 7 month birthday! You rang in your seventh month at the cabin in Souix Narrows. We took you on your first road trip to Thunder Bay and then ended up in Souix Narrows for a week on the way back. Of course you were a wonderful little girl on the trip and we had so much fun spending time with the Ratte’s and showing you all around the lake. We even took you in the canoe and (don’t tell grandma) but, we gave you a little taste of icecream for the first time too!
The biggest thing that has happened this month is that daddy is home with us! He is off now on parental leave so that he can take care of you while mommy goes back to work. He will be home with you until January and I know just how excited he is! Mommy had to go into her classroom last week so it was the first official week where daddy stayed home with you. He got it all figured really quickly and was cool about writing down all the details of your day so that I could check it out when I got home. You had some pretty interesting outfits on last week and I am excited to see what daddy finds to dress you in this week!
While I am so thrilled for you to have this time with daddy we need to lay a few ground rules. You are not allowed to crawl, make new sounds, say new words, or do anything funny between the hours of 7 and 5. You know I’m just kidding, but daddy has assured me that if anything like this does happen that he will pretend that it was the first time when I am around to see it too! (He’s so sweet!)
Other events that have happened this month are the appearance of two lower teeth. They are really coming in now and we think there are more on their way. Your cheeks have been scarlett red the last few days and you have not been your happy little self in the evenings. Also, you have enjoyed your first taste of chicken (smushed of course), and are eating a full variety of fruits and veggies. Your favourite food so far is bananas and not so favourite are the green beans. We have introduced you to the sippy cup and you haven’t quite figured out how to tip it up to get the water out, but your are happy to just chew on it anyway. Also, that object permanence thing is kicking daddy and I in the butts. You are a curious little cat and want to get your hands on EVERYTHING in sight. (One reason why I can wait until you crawl!) The problem is you also want to put everything you get your hands on into your mouth (you devoured a whole book just the other day!). You are beginning to throw the “cutest” little temper tantrums when we take things away from you that you are not supposed to have. You have daddy wrapped around your little finger because he gives you all kinds of random things from his wallet to the remote control (sans batteries). Finally, just today you have begun to wiggle around on your bum when you get excited so it looks like you are dancing and it is really, really cute.
Well, my girl, lots of changes this month in our lives, but our little family has taken it all in stride. Daddy and I hope that you feel the extent of our love every day and night.
Lovey, love, love,
Mom
