This is what happens when you kiss a girl in her bathing suit.

A Rose By Any Other Name

November17

Dear = Lexi,

= As you can se`e, there an qnaot, LET, let me try this again…

As you can see, there are not many places in our lives that you have not touched! In your tenth month you have gone from wonder child to I wonder what we are going to do with this child?! You are into EVERYTHING and we have started to think of creative ways to describe your blossoming personality! You definitely know what you want and you are “learning” how to get it!!! Your imagination turns the toilet seat into a drum, a remote control or your hand into a telephone, the laundry basket into a walker, and mommy and daddy into puddles at your feet!

Exploring

This month you have become more choosy about the foods that you will put in your mouth. You will never turn your nose up at bread, buns, bagels, muffins, and other delectable carbohydrates! Daddy’s home made bread is especially a favourite! Look out anybody who tries to enjoy a piece of cheese in front of you without sharing!

And speaking of sharing, you have started to throw the food you don’t want off your tray so that you can share it with Vegas on the floor. You two have become best buddies lately, you LOVE her to pieces and she is using you for food! You even say “Hi Vegas” and wave at her when she comes into your room in the morning. When we ask you what the puppy says, you put your little lips together and say, “buff”, “buff”!

Friends

Pointing at things you want us to take you to is another one of your new tricks. You love looking at pictures and you are always on the look out for an adventure and something new to learn about. Cupboards are a new favourite thing and there is something about opening and shutting the doors that thrills you! When we brush our teeth, so do you. When we fold laundry, you sort it into new piles. When we clean up, you make a mess!

Cupboards

Along with the new adventures that you are getting into come the bumps and bruises. This month you have bumped your head more times than I would like to count and sustained your first bruise! You are tough with a capital T and you proved it as you wore the purple discoloration on your forehead like a badge of honour. Nothing stops you from getting where you want to go, even the leg of the coffee table!

Your teacher mom is happy to report that books are one of the things that you most enjoy looking at. You have learned to lift the flaps of the “Dear Zoo” book so that you know when to pull them down, sideways, and up! I love it when you point to a book and say “boof”. I grab one from your dresser and you eagerly snuggle back and get ready to read.

Your little temper (the strong willed, independent, perseverant, confident, insert more constructive adjectives here) side of your personality is starting to really show itself and we don’t know whether to laugh or go out and buy some hair dye!  (Red for you and some for us to cover the grey!) When you are not getting your way you shut your eyes all tight and start to make all kinds of shrill sounds! Just the other day you turned all poltergist on us and projectile vomited after you got upset that we wouldn’t let you eat a dime! A DIME!

It is so much fun to see things through your new eyes and take pleasure in the new things that you are learning everyday. The way you tilt your head when you hear a song you like or wiggle your bum when I ask you if you are dancing makes me think that “musical” is another adjective that we should add to your growing resume! You seem to take pleasure in making us laugh and doing things that we have taught you. Tonight in the bath you put your toes to your nose all by yourself and it was cool to see you pick up on a little game that we have been playing for a little while now!

You make every moment special and we lovey, love, love you Lexi,
Mommy
